The Shaanxi History Museum, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Tang Paradise, Datang Everbright City, and the "12 Hours in Chang'an" district are all close together here, making it easy to feel immersed in the grandeur of the high Tang period. Spend the day in the museums learning the history, then come back in the evening for the lights and atmosphere — this is the best zone for photos and a fully immersive experience.

✅ Lintong's Qin & Tang Heritage Zone (Terracotta Army / Huaqing Palace)

This is Xi'an's dedicated day-trip zone to the east of the city, separate from downtown, and it holds the bulk of the Qin and Tang dynasty history. The Terracotta Army, the Qin Emperor's imperial garden, Huaqing Palace, Mount Li, and the Song of Everlasting Sorrow performance are all here — it's worth setting aside a full day for this area rather than trying to squeeze it in with downtown sightseeing, so you can actually take in a thousand years of Qin and Tang history at a comfortable pace.

The Xi'an Film Studio Museum, the Datang West Market Museum, and various creative/art districts are here — great for photos, relaxed and peaceful, and fully indoors, which makes it a solid option on a rainy day regardless of the weather.

2. Clear Transport & Accommodation, No Guesswork

Transport and where to stay are usually the two biggest headaches for first-time visitors — here's how to make both simple.

Metro Line 2 runs north-south through the main city, and Line 9 goes directly to the Lintong sights — nearly every major attraction is covered by metro, with clear exits marked, so you can get everywhere by public transport without doubling back. Two accommodation areas work best: staying near the Bell Tower is best for convenient sightseeing and food, while staying in the Qujiang area suits a more relaxed, scenery-focused stay.
